A Beautiful Fusion Wedding at UBC Boathouse

Some weddings are beautiful because of the details.

Others are beautiful because of the people.

Meredith and Dhruv's wedding was both.

Set against the stunning waterfront backdrop of the UBC Boathouse, this celebration brought together two families, two cultures, and two unique stories in a way that felt effortless, elegant, and deeply personal. Meredith and Dhruv, both stemming from different countries, cultures and upbringing, envisioned a wedding that honoured both of their identities while creating a seamless experience for their guests.

The result was a joyful fusion wedding filled with meaningful traditions, modern design, incredible food, and one unforgettable dance floor.

Meredith and Dhruv chose our Exclusive Event Planning Service — a full-service planning experience designed for busy couples who want professional guidance from start to finish.

With one flat planning fee, our team handled every aspect of the wedding production. Rather than spending countless hours researching vendors, comparing options, and managing logistics, Meredith and Dhruv simply selected their favourite options from the carefully curated recommendations we presented.

From venue sourcing and vendor management to stationery design, décor production, timelines, logistics, guest experience, and day-of execution, every detail was managed by The Soirée Company.

Our goal was simple: Allow the couple to focus on being engaged while we focused on creating an extraordinary wedding day.

Designing a Wedding That Honoured Two Cultures

One of the most rewarding aspects of this wedding was finding ways to celebrate both families and their traditions while maintaining a cohesive aesthetic.

Rather than separating cultures into different events, we intentionally wove meaningful elements throughout the celebration, creating an experience that felt authentic to Meredith and Dhruv's story.

Guests witnessed a beautiful Hindu ceremony filled with love, family, and connection before transitioning into a sophisticated reception overlooking the water.

Every design choice was made with intention — balancing vibrant colours, cultural significance, and the relaxed coastal atmosphere of the venue.

Creating Luxury on a Budget

One of the biggest misconceptions in the wedding industry is that beautiful weddings require unlimited budgets.

Meredith and Dhruv's wedding proves otherwise.

With an investment of less than $50,000, we strategically allocated resources to the areas that would create the greatest impact on guests while carefully managing costs behind the scenes.

By leveraging trusted vendor relationships, thoughtful planning, and intentional design decisions, we created a wedding experience that felt elevated, personalised, and luxurious without unnecessary spending.

It's a perfect example of what can happen when couples have a strong planning team guiding the process from beginning to end.
